BASDA, the UK-based Business Application Software Developers’ Association had a line-up of top speakers at the Software Thought Leaders’ Summit on 15th May 2012, addressing the current and emerging issues facing business software providers.

Speakers included:

  • Dr Robert Mullins, co-founder of the Raspberry Pi Foundation who expanded on his mission to enthuse and create the next generation of software programmers. The Foundation recently released the $35 Raspberry Pi Computer to developers.
 
  • John Doyle, European Commission DG for Information Society and media (INFSO)  provided an update on the Green Agenda.
 
  • Brigid McBride, Programme Director at HMRC, discussed the new HMRC Identity Assurance (IDA) scheme and what it means to software developers and their customers.
 
  • Kerry Jones, Assistant Director, EU Services Directive Implementation at the Business and Innovation Skills Department provided an update on the Digital Single Market and what this means for the UK software industry.
 
  • Chris Godwin, Chair of the UK eInvoicing Advocacy Group, discussed how Europe is changing the landscape for invoicing and how it will affect software and business.
 
  • Chris Baker from Oracle shared their approach to PaaS and IaaS.
 
  • Rebecca Hollis, of social media specialist Big Biscuits,  Dean Russell, European Social Media Director at Lewis PR, and Anwen Robinson, Managing Director of BASDA member UNIT4 shared a panel debate on the benefits of social media in B2B software marketing.
