When did you join BASDA
November 2020.
What was your reason for joining BASDA?
Joining an association like BASDA provides opportunities to network and share information. We hope to be able to do and provide such guidance and direction to the members of BASDA and bring best practice, knowledge and tools to enable member companies develop their in-house marketing skills and talent which then impacts how they sell their products to their customers.
What value will membership of BASDA bring to your business?
To be at the forefront of policy and legislative changes putting forward the software industry’s voice enabling businesses like ours to shape legislation that is workable and best practice.
Are there any particular topics that BASDA is championing that you are particularly interested in?
Digital accessibility – ensuring applications, services and content can be used and understood by the widest possible audience. This is an area that is going to massively affect how businesses market and communicate especially in terms of websites and videos.
What are the current challenges within your industry and how can BASDA help your company as the voice of industry?
2021 will be marketing within a recession and within tight budgetary constraints. Changing consumer behaviour is forcing marketers to pivot to new strategies and there is increased online competition to make a brand stand out from competitors. Focus must be on ROI and maximising each pound spent on marketing activity. Focus through the B2B Marketing SIG will be to continue to cover all aspects of the marketing mix, looking at how new technology developments, marketing innovation, the power of digital, legal and economic factors influence the most effective blend of elements for B2B marketers.
Can you offer any advice to BASDA members?
Businesses need to shift their marketing strategies to meet customer needs. New digital strategies, thinking outside of the box, and reinventing the way to connect with your target audiences is paramount. Be up-to-date on new innovations and digital technologies and really deep-dive to understand your customers and what they want from you.
