Our Member of the Month feature celebrates our members and the work they do. This month we’re taking a look at Omnext. We’re looking at their history, current focus and how they’ve used BASDA membership to support their business objectives over the years.
Omnext have built their reputation as a specialist in source code analysis and are composed of software developers in their own right, who manually analyse code to see exactly what is going on. Over 20 years they’ve developed different technologies that analyse source code in order to reveal possibilities and give organisations more control, transparency and flexibility when it comes to their software. In doing this Omnext reduce software risks and support the growth of healthy and future-proof technology organisations.
Omnext joined BASDA in order to reach companies who deal with software development, as they will be able to analyse members’ source code, advise on any issues and then resolve the issues that they’ve got. This is an ongoing service so as software companies bring out new releases of software they ensure that that release is secure. Omnext often work through partnerships – their partners include IBM and Deloitte.
Mervyn Blank at Omnext explained that “people hear on the news every day that someone has been cyber hit. Thirty years ago it was called industrial espionage and people broke into your office with a crowbar and they took information about who your customers are, as well as secrets about your products and they sold it to your competitors”. He continued to say that “the misconception about cyber-attacks today is that it is about bank details and similar information. They’re actually taking confidential information about who your customers are, the price you sell your products at, what your profit is, what your new range of products are going to do and they sell that to your competitors”.
Omnext are offering a free service to BASDA members. They will analyse a portion of their software code for free – and if there’s nothing wrong then there’s nothing to pay!
